Prof. Vandervelde has a B.S. in both Astronomy and Physics from
the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an M.A. and Ph.D in
Physics from the University of Virginia. Tom has extensive
research experience in optoelectronics and photonics.

earth abundant transparent conducting oxides for use with

University in Electrical Engineering and is currently
researching novel materials for use with high efficiency III-V
|Abigail has a
B.S. from Mt. Holyoke College in Physics and is working on application specific research for
long wavelength thermophotovoltaics including the development of
a microcombustor. Abbey is also
developing unique educational tools for photovoltaic and
semiconductor sciences geared towards a wide range of students.
Nicole Pfiester Latham (MS/Ph.D. student)
||Nicole has a
B.S. from Purdue University in Physics and is a member of REAP
Labs working on metamaterial thermal emitters as well as dynamic
metamaterial polarizers. Nicole has previous research
experience with molecular beam epitaxy and will soon be working
to set up the new REAP Labs MBE systems.
Ahmed Zayan (MS/Ph.D. student)
||Ahmed has an M.S. in
Material Science and
Engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology and a B.S. from
the American University of Sharjah. Ahmed has researched
concentred solar photovoltaics included split spectrum systems.
Margaret Stevens (MS/Ph.D. student)
||Maggie has a B.S. from Mt. Holyoke College in Physics and is working on
advanced epitaxial techniques to create small bandgap semiconductors and
semimetals, as well as, the applications of lattice mismatched material.

Norihito Naka - Testing ohmic
contacts for semiconductor and photovoltaic devices.
Robert Rockmore - Testing and developing
ohmic contacts to semiconductors and photovoltaic devices, as well as
improving the labaratory photoluminescense testing apparatus.

Working on computer animations of REAP research topics.
Ben Kim -
Testing and developing ohmic contacts to semiconductors and photovoltaic
Former REAP Group
recieved a M.S. and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Tufts.
He is now an Intelligence Community Fellow and research assitant
professor at the University of Texas at El-Paso.
||Dante has a
B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Tufts University in Electrical
Engineering and is currently working at Fraunhofer CSE on solar

microcombustors for energy generation applications.
- Worked on the develoment microcombusters project under funding from the Tufts
Summer Scholars Program, as well as a solar insolation meter for his
senior design project.
Emir Salih Magden (BSEE '12) - 3+1
Han Chen (BSEE '11) and Michael Motola-Barnes (BSEE '11) started the
research and development of a micro-combuster unit to utilize TPV
