Plasma, the fourth state of
matter, in recent years has become an area of
intense research. This research has yielded
valuable common applications, including fluorescent
lighting, plasma television, etching and deposition
of IC fabrication, and propulsion of spacecraft.
Currently, the Tufts Plasma Engineering Laboratory
is involved with a number of exciting
research projects with the goal of extending
these applications as well as creating new ones.
Tufts offers a graduate course (EE-194-PLA)
that introduces the basic principles of plasmas and
then discusses their many common applications.
