About Dr. Noonan
Joseph Noonan was born in Somerville, Mass. on 19 August 1944. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, Medford, Mass. in 1967, 1969 and 1973, respectively.
In 1970 he joined the Raytheon Co. Missile Systems Division working on problems in signal processing and ECM. In 1978 he founded Bedford Research Associates,
a company specializing in signal processing and scientific software development for government and comercial customers. He held the position of President of Bedford Research until joining the Faculty of Tufts University in 1985.
He is presently Professor of Electrical Engineering in Tufts University where his teaching and research interests are in Detection and Estimation Theory,
Dr. Noonan is the 1992 recipient of the Leibner Award for Outstanding Teaching at Tufts University. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.
